Paula Maurency, event coordinator for UHUK, explains : « Haitian Flag Day is synonymous to strength, pride and freedom. It’s important to understand that there’s a lot more to Haiti than voodoo, political unrest and poverty. Haiti is now one of the top 10 travel destinations and we wanted to showcase our rich Haitian culture in the UK with this family-friendly event. »
Judith Craig Morency, chair, added : « We were delighted to see how many people came to the event, and made donations for our project. The UHUK is committed to educating Haiti's children, and is building a school there, L’Ahadepa.”
The PICKLIZ team is greatly looking forward to next year’s celebrations.
